Joy of Sports Foundation Announces Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance

Joy of Sports Foundation (JSF)  has established a 1-year partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building sports experience.

The partnership provides Joy of Sports Foundation with access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes and administrators, comprising live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson and additional online resources to reinforce the training.

PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 youth sports organizations, school districts and parks-and-rec departments to create a Development ZoneTM culture, where the goal is using youth and high school sports to develop Better Athletes, Better People.  “We look forward to working with Joy of Sports Foundation to create the best possible experience for the youth athletes in Derry Township. Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve athletic performance while also ensuring kids take life lessons from sports that will help them throughout the rest of their lives,” Thompson said.

“Since the inspiration for the creation of JSF was the result of participation in a PCA workshop several years ago, our mission to expand youth rec opportunities and enhance youth rec experiences by “Fostering Fun in Youth Athletics” aligns perfectly with JSF’s mission” said Terry Singer, founder and chairman of JSF.  “In order for kids to experience the many physical, social and developmental benefits that are gained by participation in youth sports, we have to get kids playing and keep them playing to make it fun for everyone…athletes, coaches, parents and officials,” Singer added.  “Our partnership with PCA will strengthen our capacity to do that,” Singer concluded.
